The Environment and Health Council of Louisiana was incorporated in 1983 by a group of citizens concerned about the reportedly high rate of cancer in Louisiana and lack of access to unbiased information.
The organization's mission has since evolved to focus on health and environmental issues affecting the well-being of Louisiana's populace and economy.
