Environment and Health Council of Louisiana Announces Free Public Water Management Conference10/3/2017 The Environment and Health Council of Louisiana is hosting its annual conference on Nov. 2, 2017 at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. This year’s conference focuses on water management and how it relates to Louisiana.
Each year the E&HCL hosts an annual conference in support of its mission of to provide factual discussions based on issues related to Louisiana. Following the August 2016 flood, the E&HCL decided a focus on water management a pertinent topic that impacted many in Louisiana. Water: Managing Louisiana’s Valuable Resources is an information transfer forum that provides updates on urgent water management topics. Agency representatives, legislators and members of the community are encouraged to attend. The conference is free and open to the public. Guest speakers include Jay Grymes, WAFB chief meteorologist, State Health Officer and Medical Director of the Louisiana Department of Health, Dr. Jimmy Guidry and Justin Ehrenwerth, the president and CEO of the Water Institute of the Gulf. Additional speakers include Dr. Frank Tsai from the LSU College of Engineering, Lacy McManus, the director of program development at the Greater New Orleans, Inc., Mark Davis from Tulane University Law School and Dr. Matthew Reonas from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources. The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. and adjourns at 2 p.m. The first 200 guests to register before Oct. 30, 2017 will receive a free lunch. The Environment and Health Council of Louisiana is a nonprofit organization founded in 1983 to facilitate independent, balanced and factual assessments of health issues related to the environmental and economic well-being of Louisiana.
